Description
The Fazzoletto Millefiori Vase by Murano Design brings together two distinctive traditions of Vetro Artistico di Murano: the iconic Fazzoletto form and Millefiori decoration created with colorful murrine. Its compact size makes it versatile enough to use as a flower vase, centerpiece, or decorative art object on a console, coffee table, bookshelf, or sideboard.
The lower section is made of lattimo glass, a traditional Murano glass known for its soft, milky-white opaline appearance. The upper section is created separately using layers of colored transparent glass with multicolored murrine fused into them. Each murrina originates from a multilayered glass cane. The cane is cut into thin cross-sections, which are then incorporated into the glass while it is still hot.
The two sections are joined through a complex double hot-working process. The master glassmaker must carefully control the temperature of both glass masses. This prevents internal stress and creates a strong, stable bond. The rim is then shaped entirely by hand to create the distinctive flowing, wavy profile of the Fazzoletto form (the form evokes the lightness and fluidity of a silk scarf).
Cobalt blue, Venetian red, aquamarine, and milky white create a vibrant contrast, while the colorful murrine add depth and intricate detail. Slight variations in shape, color distribution, and the contours of the wavy rim are natural characteristics of the handmade process.
The vase is ideal for small bouquets, tulips, freesias, ranunculus, and decorative branches. It can also be used as a decorative bowl for chocolates or candy, or as a stylish catchall for keys and other small items.

Why choose this vase
This piece brings together lattimo glass, colored transparent glass, Millefiori murrine, traditional glass blowing, and the Fazzoletto form in a single object. Its creation involves several separate stages. The two sections are made independently, joined while hot, and finished by shaping the distinctive wavy rim entirely by hand.
The murrine are not painted onto the surface or applied after the vase is made. They are fused directly into the hot glass. Their exact arrangement can never be reproduced identically, giving each vase its own unique pattern.
Its compact size makes the vase easy to display even in smaller spaces without sacrificing its decorative presence. It also makes a distinctive wedding, anniversary, or housewarming gift, as well as a special piece for collectors and enthusiasts of Italian design.
