NasonMoretti Macramè Murano Glass Candle Holder and Decorative Vase – Balloton Technique, Italian Design

Price range: 120,00 € through 199,00 €

Macramè by NasonMoretti is an elegant candle holder and decorative vase handcrafted from authentic Murano glass using the traditional Balloton technique. Its three-dimensional surface, reminiscent of a finely woven glass texture, captures and refracts the light, creating ever-changing reflections. With a candle lit inside, Macramè becomes a small architectural composition of light; without a candle, it transforms into an elegant decorative vase and sculptural interior object. Available in several sizes and colors, Macramè is ideal for dining tables, coffee tables, consoles, shelving, terraces, restaurants, hotels, and refined hospitality or reception spaces.

Description

“Even on the darkest nights of life, may a light always remain with you — the light of love, trust in others, and hope for a better tomorrow.”

The name Macrame immediately evokes the idea of an intricate woven pattern.

In this collection, however, the decoration is not applied to the surface: the glass itself creates the pattern..

The collection’s soft form is inspired by the silhouette of traditional cognac glasses, while the distinctive Balloton texture transforms the surface into a three-dimensional relief. It is precisely this combination of form, color, and texture that makes Macramè one of NasonMoretti’s most recognizable collections.

The Balloton technique

The Balloton technique is part of the traditional Murano glassmaking heritage.

Molten glass is blown into a special metal mold with small geometric reliefs. As the hot glass presses against the mold, the characteristic crisscross pattern is impressed directly into the surface.

Once removed from the mold, the glass is further worked and shaped by the master glassmaker until it reaches its final form and proportions.

The result is not a pattern painted or engraved afterward: the relief is formed during the glassmaking process itself.

Slight variations in shape and in the distribution of the texture are a natural result of handcrafted production.

Light: the True Character of Macramè

It is through light that the Balloton texture fully reveals its character.

Each small relief alters the path of light through the glass, creating refractions, highlights, shadows, and subtle variations in color intensity.

With a candle lit inside, the textured surface multiplies the movement of the flame and creates a soft, vibrant glow.

During the day, placed near a window, the glass appears more transparent and luminous.

In the evening, under soft ambient lighting, the colors gain depth and the glass creates a more intimate atmosphere.

It is no coincidence that NasonMoretti identifies the play of light and reflections created by the Balloton technique as one of the defining features of the Macramè collection.

Three Sizes, Different Possibilities

M – H 12 × Ø 12 cm
Ideal as a candle holder on a dining table, console, nightstand, or coffee table. It can also be used as a small decorative vase for a few flowers, short branches, or minimalist floral arrangements.

L – H 15 × Ø 14.5 cm
A highly versatile size: an eye-catching candle holder, a decorative vase, or the focal element of a tabletop composition.

XL – H 21 × Ø 20 cm
The largest and most sculptural version. It can be used as a substantial candle holder, decorative vase, or true glass art glass object on a table, console, sideboard, or in a reception area.

Sizes M and L are confirmed in NasonMoretti catalogs; Ø 20 × H 21 cm format is also documented as Macramè XL.

Candle Holder, Vase, or Decorative Object?

Macramé's strength lies precisely in its versatility.

As a candle holder, the Balloton texture visually amplifies the movement of the flame and creates decorative ambient light.

Like a vase, it can hold small bouquets, single stems, branches, or dried arrangements, with the size selected according to the composition.

As a decorative object, it can be displayed completely empty: the color and texture alone are enough to create a striking focal point in the room.

The larger versions are also offered as vase-candle holders, reinforcing this dual function.

How to Use Macramé in Interior Design

In a contemporary or minimalist interior, a single colored Macramè can serve as a small but confident color accent.

In Modern Classic, handcrafted glass creates an elegant contrast with marble, dark woods, brass, bronze, and natural textiles.

On mirrored or high-gloss surfaces, the Balloton pattern is visually multiplied through reflection.

Placed near a window, the glass makes the most of natural light; on a console or table with side lighting, it takes on a more sculptural presence.

The larger sizes are especially well suited to hotels, restaurants, boutiques, showrooms, terraces, and hospitality projects, where they can be used individually or grouped at different heights. Decorative outdoor use is also documented for the Macramè line.

A Composition of Several Macramè Pieces

A particularly striking approach is to combine M, L and XL.

The different heights create rhythm without requiring many additional decorative objects. For example, one piece can hold a candle, another a floral arrangement, while the third can be left empty to showcase the glass itself.

Using a single color creates an elegant monochromatic composition; combining different colors gives Macramè a more contemporary and decorative character.

A Gift That Lasts Beyond the Occasion

Macramè is especially well suited as a wedding gift, anniversary gift, milestone birthday gift, housewarming gift or corporate gift.

It is more than a decorative object: over time, it can take on different roles — soft light with a candle, a vase with flowers, or a color accent in an interior.

That ability to change function while preserving the value of handcrafted Murano glass makes Macramè a far more distinctive and enduring gift than a conventional decorative accessory.
