Description
Frame Collection – Ercole Moretti
"More than a small plate for amuse-bouche, this piece is a distinctive expression of contemporary culinary presentation — ideal for gourmet tastings, signature creations, and refined desserts.
Designed first and foremost for fine dining, including Ho.Re.Ca. professionals and Michelin-level restaurants, this plate is ideal for presenting amuse-bouches, tasting portions, finger foods, and miniature culinary creations. At home, it brings an elegant touch to appetizers, tartlets, sushi, cheeses, desserts, and petite pastries."
The Optical Illusion Square Plate is one of the most sophisticated pieces in the Frame Collection , created by the historic Ercole Moretti, founded in Murano in 1911.
The composition of black, grey, white and ochre murrine, arranged with exceptional geometric precision, creates a striking three-dimensional effect that shifts continuously with the light and the viewing angle. This play of visual perception is what gives the collection its name: Optical Illusion.
Each plate is entirely handcrafted at the Ercole Moretti glassworks using the prestigious technique of Fused Millefiori murrine, one of the most complex traditions of Murano glassmaking.
What Makes This Plate So Special?
Creating this collection requires extraordinary precision.
Each individual murrine begins as a long, multicolored glass rod formed through successive layers of colored glass. Once cooled, the rods are cut by hand into hundreds of small cross-sections.
The master glassmaker then arranges each element like a mosaic, creating a precise geometric rhythm before the final kiln-fusing process.
In the Optical Illusionmodel, the challenge is even greater: the pattern must retain its geometry perfectly during the fusing process in order to create the optical sense of depth that defines the entire collection.
Each plate also incorporates the distinctive murrina bearing the letter “M”, Ercole Moretti’s exclusive symbol of authenticity, and is certified by the official authentic Vetro Artistico® Murano art glass..
The heritage of Ercole Moretti
Since 1911, Ercole Moretti has been recognized as one of Venice’s most prestigious historic glassworks specializing in artistic murrine.
The glassworks is internationally recognized as one of the leading custodians of this technique, passed down through generations of master glassmakers.
Its creations are exported around the world and are regarded as authentic works of contemporary Italian glass art.
