Description

Cartoccio Turtle Turchese is a handcrafted creation by Yalos Murano in which shape, color and light become an integral part of the design.

The Turtle collection draws inspiration from the geometric structure of a turtle shell. Large, irregular segments outlined by darker lines and turquoise accents create an organic pattern that unfolds across the glass surface.

The distinctive mother-of-pearl finish creates an iridescent effect: depending on the lighting and viewing angle, the glass reveals shades of turquoise, blue, gold, bronze and purple.

The Distinctive Cartoccio Shape

The Cartoccio shape resembles a sheet of parchment with gracefully curved edges. During the hot-working process, the glass is shaped by hand to create two raised sides and a deeper center.

Depending on the viewing angle, this distinctive form allows the piece to be perceived as a large decorative bowl, a centerpiece plate or a small Murano glass sculpture.

The Large version measures 52 cm in length and is substantial enough to become the focal point of a large table on its own.

On the table: what to put in the Cartoccio

The deeper central section also allows the Cartoccio to be used as an elegant element for decoration and table setting.

It can hold an arrangement of grapes, pears, apples, figs, pomegranates or small citrus fruits, as well as wrapped chocolates, dried fruit, cookies, and small pastries.

It is best not to fill the bowl completely. Leaving part of the glass visible allows the Turtle pattern and mother-of-pearl reflections to remain an essential part of its decorative appeal.

To preserve this handcrafted art glass piece, we do not recommend using it for liquids or very hot foods.

An Art Object on Its Own

The Turquoise Turtle Cartoccio can be displayed completely empty as a decorative object for the home.

On a dining table, console table, sideboard, or large coffee table, it becomes a small luminous sculpture. Its transparency and mother-of-pearl effect allow its appearance to change throughout the day with natural and artificial light.

The ivory and turquoise tones blend beautifully with modern and minimalist interiors, while the warmer reflections complement contemporary classic spaces.

In Art Decointeriors, the mother-of-pearl glass is particularly striking when paired with marble, dark wood, mirrored surfaces, brass, and gold-toned details.

Displayed alongside paintings, sculptures, and other artistic glass pieces, Cartoccio can also become part of a curated art collection. For the strongest visual impact, leave some open space around the bowl and avoid surrounding it with too many small decorative accessories.

A Distinctive Gift for the Home

Turquoise Turtle Cartoccio can be chosen as wedding gift for newlyweds, a meaningful anniversary gift, a milestone birthday present, a housewarming gift, or a design gift for those who appreciate Italian art and interior design.

Its decorative versatility makes it an ideal gift even without knowing the recipient's personal tableware style: it can be used as a centerpiece or simply displayed as an art object.

Color and visual effect

Manufacturer's color: Ivory with turquoise Turtle threads + mother-of-pearl effect.

Ivory, turquoise, light blue, and smoky tones combine with mother-of-pearl reflections. The appearance changes depending on the light, angle and color of the underlying surface, giving the Cartoccio a particularly striking visual presence.
