Description
| The Shell collection draws its inspiration from the sea—an element deeply connected to the history and identity of Murano and Venice.
Some objects simply decorate a space. Others transform the way light moves through it and brings it to life. The Shell Black Mignon by Yalos Murano seems to capture a gesture suspended in time: the glass bends, opens, and flows like a precious fabric shaped by the wind. Its soft black waves, illuminated by silvery reflections and a delicate mother-of-pearl effect , evoke the mysterious allure of Venice — a captivating interplay of shadow, silk, and light shimmering on the water. Behind its apparent lightness lies the craftsmanship of Murano glassmaking, interpreted by Yalos Murano through exclusive techniques. It all begins with fire: the glass is melted at temperatures exceeding 1100°C, while the intense black and smoky hues are created within the glass itself through the addition of mineral oxides, rather than by surface colouring. The silky, luminous effect that gives this bowl its captivating character comes from an ancient technique inspired by mother-of-pearl, achieved through the use of special minerals and ultra-fine metallic elements fused into the glass while it is still hot. The piece is further enriched with hand-applied decorative threads, skilfully worked using traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques. Watermark and Feniciotechniques create delicate plays of light and flowing, almost liquid patterns across the surface. While the glass is still incandescent, one of the most expressive stages of the process begins: the creation of the The Cartoccio shape, a distinctive signature of Yalos Murano. The master glassmaker opens the blown glass and carefully shapes the edges by hand, transforming it into an elegant, fluid form reminiscent of draped fabric or a sheet of paper gently lifted by the wind. As a result of this entirely handmade process, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Yet the beauty of the Shell Black Mignon goes far beyond decoration. It is a striking interior accent in its own right. Placed on a coffee table, console, minimalist sideboard, or at the centre of a contemporary dining table, it captures and reflects both natural and artificial light, revealing metallic highlights and sophisticated chiaroscuro effects. It works beautifully as a centerpiece, decorative catchall, jewelry holder, or sculptural art object, and can also be left intentionally empty to showcase the transparency, depth, and graceful folds of the glass. Particularly suited to modern, Art Deco, and minimalist interiors, it pairs beautifully with marble, smoked glass, mirrored surfaces, polished wood, chrome, and satin-silver accents. Positioned beside slender candles or illuminated by directional lighting, the piece takes on an almost cinematic quality — luminous, sculptural, and impossible to overlook. Each piece is handmade in Murano and bears the distinctive marks of authentic artisanal craftsmanship. Depending on the piece, authenticity may be identified through the manufacturer's mark, the master glassmaker's signature, or an original certificate — enduring symbols of genuine Murano glassmaking excellence.
