At home, it brings an elegant touch to appetizers, tartlets, sushi, cheeses, desserts, and petite pastries."
The Millefiori plate from the Frame Collection , created by the historic Ercole Moretti , transforms one of Murano glassmaking’s most celebrated techniques into an elegant piece of tableware.
Each plate is handcrafted from hundreds of authentic Millefiori murrine, individually arranged to form a vibrant, harmonious, and one-of-a-kind mosaic of color.
This refined work of art is created with exceptional craftsmanship and designed for everyday use while bringing authentic Venetian design to the table.
What Makes This Plate So Special?
The Millefiori murrine technique is one of the best-known and most intricate traditions of Murano glassmaking.
Each individual murrina begins as a long rod of polychrome glass made by layering multiple colors of glass. Once the rods are stretched and cooled, they are cut into very small cylindrical sections. The cross-section of each murrina reveals a distinctive multicolored pattern.
The master glassmaker arranges hundreds of these murrine by hand on a plate-shaped surface, carefully balancing the colors and patterns. The composition is then placed in a kiln and fused at temperatures ranging from 700°C to 820°C, until the individual pieces become a single sheet of glass. The plate is then shaped from this fused glass surface.
Every piece is entirely handmade and completely unique.
