Once the rods are stretched and cooled, they are cut into very small cylindrical sections. The cross-section of each murrina reveals a distinctive multicolored pattern.

The master glassmaker arranges hundreds of these murrine by hand on a plate-shaped surface, carefully balancing the colors and patterns. The composition is then placed in a kiln and fused at temperatures ranging from 700°C to 820°C, until the individual pieces become a single sheet of glass. The plate is then shaped from this fused glass surface.

Every piece is entirely handmade and completely unique.

The heritage of Ercole Moretti

Founded in 1911, Ercole Moretti is one of Murano’s most prestigious historic glassworks, renowned for its expertise in artistic murrine.

The Moretti family is considered one of the foremost custodians of this centuries-old glassmaking tradition and has played an important role in bringing the technique to an international audience. Each piece bears the authentic Vetro Artistico® Murano art glass.trademark, the official certification of authentic Murano craftsmanship, quality, and Italian
