The Goto de Fornasa Tornado is one of the most distinctive expressions of traditional Vetro Artistico di Murano. Its name comes from the old Venetian expression “Goths of Fornasa”— literally, “glasses from the furnace.” The term traditionally referred to drinking glasses that Murano glassmakers created for their own use during breaks at the furnace, using glass left over from the day’s work.

Today, this tradition lives on in a collection that brings together history, handcraftsmanship, and contemporary design. Each tumbler is entirely hand-blown without the use of molds and decorated with flowing threads of multicolored glass that create the signature Tornado effect. The surface is further enhanced with precious inclusions of aventurine, a semi-precious, fine-grained quartziteprized for its distinctive shimmering appearance. Incorporated into the decorative glasswork, these sparkling inclusions produce refined golden highlights and give each piece its unique luminous character.

No two tumblers are exactly alike. Subtle variations in the lines, colors, and shape are natural characteristics of authentic handcraftsmanship, making every piece a unique work of art.

Perfect for both everyday use and sophisticated table settings, Goto de Fornasa tumblers bring color, character, and individuality to the table. Their varied decorative patterns also make it easy for guests to identify their own glass during lunches, dinners, and special gatherings, making the set as practical as it is visually striking.
